1. Are sounds and music on Soundsnap royalty-free?

Yes, absolutely. You can use them in any commercial or non-commercial application (movies, music, theater, video games, etc). However, you cannot re-sell them online or in any format. The sound needs to be a part of your music, film, website, installation etc. You can read the full license here.

2. Can I use these sounds/music in a commercial project?

Yes, but only for our paid users. Any commercial use in film, TV, radio, web, games, etc. is fully permitted under our license. Users are not allowed to re-sell the sounds "as they are" on websites, or any other format, etc. Trial users may only use our sounds on personal projects (home videos, student projects, or non-monetized personal podcasts) and cannot release projects commercially that use our sounds. Upon subscription, sound effects downloaded during the Free Trial are automatically upgraded to a full commercial license, allowing use in commercial projects.

Do I need to provide cue sheets for either the sounds or the music?

For sounds, no cue sheets will be required. For music, you will be responsible for registering the track on cue sheets with the applicable public performance organizations (such as ASCAP or BMI), networks, stations, and any other organization where industry practice requires such, if applicable. The relevant information needed for you to do so properly credit the Music Creator of the Track is listed on Table A in the track's license. The music license for the tracks can be downloaded from your Download history via the download button for the relevant track.

3. Do I need to credit Soundsnap when I use the sounds in my project?

No! Crediting us or the sound creator is not necessary but if you want to do it voluntarily, thats always appreciated ;)

4. Can I copy sounds/music from Soundsnap and re-sell them?

Absolutely not. That's against our Terms of Use and a violation of international copyright law.

5. How can I be certain that the sounds/music on Soundsnap are legal?

Our sounds and music have been licensed from reputable contributors with extensive industry credits. After submission, our team listens to each sound making sure they don't infringe anyone's copyright. Finally, because of the large volume of traffic on the website, it would be really hard to distribute a sound illegally. Everything is checked daily by members of the community that can inform us of any copyright infringement.

6. Is it OK if I use a script or bot to help me download sounds?

No. It is strictly prohibited to use any kind of robot, spider, script, downloader, reader, or any kind of software meant to stream or download tracks. There are no exceptions to this rule as it will slow down legitimate users and could create risks for our partners. Any violation of this rule will be dealt with a ban from the site without refund and is often followed by serious legal action.
